Margret & Team,

Thank you for the work that you do.  Each and every life that you save brings more light to the world.  A pet is
not just an item that fills your home, but a love that fills your heart.  So, in essence, you are filling the world
with love one heart at a time.  My family is grateful to have the chance to welcome Cupcake into our lives.
Cupcake is as delicious as her name might suggest.  She took a few moments to take in our hefty brood,
then set about making friends.  First came the two doggy friends:  Lola, the basset hound, and Gabby, the
rat terrier.  Smells and wagging tails abound.  Then Cosmo, the feisty calico, scampered in to check out the
scene.  She was a feral kitten in a horse barn before she came to live with us 5 years ago.  Cupcake is still a
little unsure of the chickens and Elliot the goat, but I am sure she will be a farm girl soon.  Enjoy the pictures.
There will be many more to follow.

Blessings,
The Mallory's
(Jesse, Melynda and baby Oliver)

Dear Lauri & Karen,

We wanted to thank you for
EVERYTHING you have done!  She (Sadie) is feeling much better today.  I am not sure if it is something she ate
or if she is just "adjusting" to her surroundings.  She is back to her rambunctious puppy self today.

The fact that you took her back after we already had her for a week and cared for her really shows that YOU and your organization care for
the well-being of the animals.  Continue to keep up the hard work that you put into the organization!

We will send you picture of Sadie in a month or so, so that you can see what a big girl she has become.

We wish you all the best of luck!

Thanking you once again,

Steve & Mitzi

This puppy became ill after she had been in her new home for a week.  She was taken back and nursed back to
health by the HSI and then returned to her owners.  The above was the e-mail we received thanking us for our
efforts and expressing the gratitude of her owners.  THANK YOU, Steve & Mitzi, for offering one of our pets a
forever, loving, caring home!  We hope you send us photos of her soon.

I just wanted to let you know that we have now had Sebastian over a year and a half now and we love him so much.  He now has a sister
(tried to foster a Greyhound and failed) partly because Sebastian LOVES HER!!  He will walk up to her and just kiss her non stop.  He puts
his toys down for her and gives her his bones.  They both go out in the back yard and have a great time running and playing with each
other.  I want you to know what you do does make a huge difference and for others that are interested, I drove from Tampa to pick up
Sebastian on a broken leg (I had broken it in April and in June when I came I was just starting to walk on it with crutches.  It ended up not
healing and I had to have surgery, so after one year I was finally able to walk on it without pain).  But even after all of that drive and the
broken leg thing, I am so happy we got Sebastian.  I attached a picture you had on your website (cute puppy self) and two of him all grown
up!    Carolyn

Kirby is 54 lbs and very wild.  He loves to play and he is great with the kids (he keeps them busy).  He has chewed up everything we got him
(every toy).  We love him!  Thank you!  He is our baby, now 7 months old and he stands 2'2" to the top of his back (not his big head).  Bryan

home.  He is still the same loving dog, just not as skinny.  He loves to play with the huskies but really loves to be by my side.  He is Hi!  I
wanted to write to you and let you know how great Roscoe is doing.  He has made such a turnaround from when we first brought him
home.  He is still the same loving dog, just not as skinny.  He loves to play with the huskies but really loves to be by my side.  He is
definitely my baby.  He follows me around the house and sleeps at my feet.  Thank you so much for giving him the help he needed.  You
didn't have to care for him the way you did.  I know from sure the MCHS would have euthanized him.  But you made him all better and for that
I will be forever grateful.  I have also sent some pics to show you how great he is looking.  I am sure you still have the pics from when you
first took him in 4 weeks ago and saved his life.  The difference is amazing.  Thank you again for all the love and care you gave this special
little guy and for saving his life.  We will keep in touch and send more pics as he grows.

Our deepest appreciation, The Lambert Family

Roscoe was a puppy that we saved from a local animal control that got really sick after 14 days.  He was skin and bones.  A lot of special
cooking (check and rice), a lot of car from Lauri and all the kennel helpers with medications, IV medications and fluids and special attention
nursed him back to health.  We will miss him!

We just wanted to say thanks so much.  We adopted "Loki" a year ago from you.  He has grown into a happy and healthy dog and we
thought you might want a picture of him now.  I know you care for numerous dogs and find homes for them.  We just wanted you to see the
good things you have done.

Thanks again!

Hi Lauri!

I was looking at the HSI website and after seeing your rescue of the Alabama dogs, thought you might like an update on one of the
adoptions from the Georgia rescue this past summer.  She is a poodle mix named Cocoa (now Belah) who was very shy and very thin, only
5.5 lbs.  In less than 4 months, she now weighs 14 lbs. and is very spirited and smart.  During the ride home on the day that I adopted her,
she was pressed up against the seat, not knowing where this ride was taking her.  After telling her she was going home with me, she
crawled on my lap, velcroed to my chest.  I love this little girl, even though she still has a hard time sharing me with my other dogs, but it has
gotten better.  My only regret is not being able to have taken one more.  If anyone is even thinking about adopting one of these little dogs (or
cats), the pet will be so thankful and the return of love is ten-fold.  Please feel free to put my letter on the web.

Terry

CUPCAKE UPDATE!!  By e-mail, February 27, 2009

Hi!

C.C., as she has become known around the farm, is doing awesome!  She has bonded so well with all of my animals.  Oliver, my baby, is
in love with her.  He coos with delight  every time C.C. comes to sniff his head.  She has also adopted one of his baby toys.  It is a wand with
two stuffed animals and some ribbons streaming at either end.  However, she gladly gives it back to Oliver with no complaints and waits
patiently until he is done with it.  Last night, we were getting ready for bed.  My small dog, Gabby, is crated at night and C.C. and Lola have
been sleeping in the small utility room where the crate is.  I put Gabby in "her home" and C.C. in the room, but Lola was outside.  This is not
unusual when the weather is nice, but C.C. whined until Lola was let in to sleep with her.  I was so touched that she could not go to sleep
without her new friends, all of them.  Cosmo, the kitty, is still a little shy as C.C. tries to play with her, running and pouncing.  Cosmo is not
ready for all of that yet.  She takes some time to warm up to romping.  Also, when C.C. goes outside for her morning playtime, I peek out the
window to see her looking seriously at the goat and chickens.  She will run up to the goat and smell him.  He is very playful and tries to
head butt her back.  C.C. will then run away from him, looking back with concern for his sanity with her tail tucked tightly on her hind end.   It
is a funny sight.

I checked the website and teared up, seeing the photos.  It gets to me every time I think of the fact that people are capable of hurting
beautiful animals like C.C.  Seeing her with family and friends is how she should have always been.  I will continue to hold thoughts of a
world free of abuse and neglect, trying my best to reach out however I can.  Thank you again for all you do.  It really does make a difference.
C.C. is a shining example of that!

Blessings!
